The Logo Design Process
My logo design process is a series of carefully considered steps, designed to get to the best solution for your logo and visual identity. Good groundwork makes for good design and this process is what makes that happen.
1. Get in touch
Simple: Get in contact with us via the contacts page with a brief summary of your project. I'll come back to you with any questions, a clear outline of how I work, and pricing information.
2. The brief
Once the proposal is agreed, we will send to you a questionnaire, which is the first discovery point for the direction of your logo. This is a very important document as it will determine the direction of the design. It gives us an insight into the values of the company and provides us the focused detail we need to move forward creatively. It also gets you involved in the process, so that we nail the logo concept for you.
3. The mood board
The mood board is another essential part of the discovery process and your time to show me your brands visual personality. It helps us to define a visual direction for the logo design and inspire creative directions. Add 10 to 20 images onto a document which you like, and that you feel fit with your company identity. The reason we ask you to do this, is that it comes directly from you, and those clear choices you have made will create the best possible outcomes. Don’t be daunted, it’s rather fun, and you can share the images however you like; Pinterest, Email, PowerPoint, Google Docs whatever works for you. Trust us, it’s worth the time.
4. The discovery call
Once we have the brief questionnaire and the mood board, we will then schedule a discovery call to discuss them. This gives us the chance to ask and answer any questions, meet, and get excited about the project!
5. The design process
Now we have all the fuel needed to ignite the creative spark, we begin sketching ideas. We develop up one or two design concepts. It’s important to us that we advance the design to the point where it can be used as it is, and we’ll show you the design in mock ups, so you can see it in ‘real world’ use. This lets us see the big picture of how it’ll work in different scenarios and it helpful to both us and you!
We will then share with you our brilliant new logo concepts for your business. Because of all the good groundwork we have laid, the proposed ideas are usually right on the mark. But if required, we will of course make tweaks so it’s even more fantastic.
6. The deliverables
After final approval, we deliver to you all the final files in various formats for you to use in print and online. Depending on the options you have chosen, you will also receive the brand style guide with all the elements to use as your brand identity – logo, typography, colour palette etc (highly recommended).
Addons you may have chosen such as stationery or a Squarespace website will be worked on after this and timescales provided along the way.
Timeframe
It usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete a logo design project. If you have specific deadlines, let us know!
